Review: Stardom – 2017.11.05 – Goddesses of Stardom Tag League – Day 4 (Finals)

Hiroyo Matsumoto vs. Kris Wolf
This is a match that could be really great if it was further up the card and really meant something. Hopefully Matsumoto can have a good run in Stardom again soon. This match was fairly short and with more comedy than wrestling but there were still glimpses of the quality both possess. Matsumoto managed to rip off Kris Wolf’s tail before pinning her for the win. 2.5/5

Shiki Shibusawa & Natsuko Tora vs. Starlight Kid & AZM
Very competent and a good pace and flow, though most of the offence was pretty basic. Starlight Kid is really starting to stand out as one of Stardom’s most exciting young talents along with AZM. Natsuko Tora pinned Starlight Kid for the win. 2.25/5

Kelly Klein & Bea Priestley vs. Chardonnay & Scarlett
The workrate was very good in this match, especially from Scarlett who got a bloody nose early and took a lot of punishment throughout the match but still managed to execute all her spots well. It was a really stiff match though there never really was  a feeling of high stakes or a story. it was all pretty well executed though. Kelly Klein pinned Scarlett for the win. 3/5

Jungle Kyona & Yoko Bito vs. Hiromi Mimura & Konami
Hiromi & Konami dominated early after interrupting Yoko Bito’s introduction. They got them outside the ring and Hiromi performed a nice crossbody from the middle rope to the outside. Once back in the ring Kyona & Bito quickly regained control and Jungle Kyona pinned Hiromi Mimura for the win. A very short match at a little over 4 minutes but it was entertaining enough. 2.75/5

Io Shirai counters Kagetsu's Oedo Coaster.

Oedo Tai (Kagetsu & Hana Kimura) vs. Queen’s Quest (Io Shirai & HZK)
Michiko Ohmukai was in Oedo Tai’s corner and got involved straight away as Queen’s Quest were sent to the outside and Michiko threw HZK into the nearby chairs. Oedo Tai dominated outside and got HZK back in the ring. Kagetsu took control and did the usual pouring of water on and spitting in the face of HZK. Hana tagged in and continued the domination. HZK was selling extremely well and eventually made a comeback and tagged in Io. Io took down Kagetsu & Hana as well as Michiko who had entered the ring, followed by a big suicide dive to the outside. It was then Io vs. Hana in the ring and there was a great moment when Hana gave the referee the middle finger as he asked her if she wanted to quit while she was in a facelock. HZK was then back in and went back-and-forth with Hana. Kagetsu vs. Io followed and was as great as you would imagine, including a great Oedo Coaster by Kagetsu with Io getting her knees up to result in a very painful looking landing for Kagetsu. 2130 Kagetsu then ended up spitting blue mist in Michiko’s face as she tried to interfere. As Io was trying to take advantage the bell rang for a time-limit draw. A fantastic match! 4.25/5

Kelly Klein & Bea Priestley vs. Jungle Kyona & Yoko Bito (Tag League Final)
Both teams showed great passion throughout this final, but it was particularly noticeable from Jungle Kyona who really made the match feel like it could go either way. Klein & Preistley dominated large parts of the match with occasional small comebacks from Kyona & Bito, including a nice double suplex from Bito. As the match neared the end it got slightly more even, Klein broke up a pin on Priestley after a B-Driver and Frog Splasha and Priestley kicked out of a double-team powerbomb. Klein & Preistley eventually regained the momentum though and Priestley pinned Kyona after an Avalanche Code Red to win the 2017 Goddesses of Stardom Tag Leadue. It might not have been the best match of the tournament but it was still a very good final. 4/5
