Review: Stardom – 2017.11.04 – Goddesses of Stardom Tag League – Day 3

Ruaka vs. Kaori Yoneyama vs. Hanan
I expected this to be a very standard opener but it was a little better than that. Yoneyama interacted well with the crowd as usual and both Ruaka & Hanan worked well to put on an entertaining match. I’d still like to see Yoneyama further up the card but this was still enjoyable. Kaori Yoneyama pinned Hana for the win. 2/5

Momo Watanabe vs. Kris Wolf
Just before Momo Watanabe’s injury at the start of the year she had her best match to date with Kagetsu, proving she was starting to realise the potential that everyone knew she had. It’s been a long 10 months since then and Stardom have really missed her. This was a very good comeback match and Kris Wolf was pretty much the perfect opponent as the fast pace she works at was perfect for reminding everybody what they had been missing. Momo looked very good and got in a lot of big kicks and dropkicks. Kris Wolf worked Momo’s knee which she sold well. Tam Nakano interfered at the end hitting Momo with the wooden sign board and Kris Wolf got the pin. A very encouraging start for Momo’s comeback. 3.25/5

Hiromi Mimura & Konami vs. Scarlett & Chardonnay
This was good. I have talked often recently about how Hiromi has really improved her character work (to the point where she is one of the most popular stars in Stardom), but this match really showed how her in-ring ability is improving too. She has a great DDT and is finding a nice flow of combining different moves. Both Chardonnay and Scarlett looked good, with the latter a little prone to the odd mistake or mistimed move but they were still impressive. Konami didn’t get to do too much in the match but looked good whenever she was in and seems to be connecting more with the crowd. At the end Scarlett accidentally hit Chardonnay with a crossbody and Hiromi Mimura took advantage to pin Scarlett for the win. 3.5/5

Shiki Shibusawa & Natsuko Tora vs. Oedo Tai (Kagetsu & Hana Kimura)
A much better performance from Shiki Shibusawa in this match. She looked relatively comfortable in both offence and selling. She still needs to greatly expand her moveset but more matches like this will give her a solid platform to build from. Shiki & Natsuko interrupted the Oedo Tai dance and were booed for doing so. Oedo Tai quickly regained control as the match went to the outside. Kagetsu looked great as always though Hana did not see too much action. There was a nice double spear from Natsuko. Kagetsu pinned Shiki Shibusawa for the win. 3.25/5

Starlight Kid & AZM vs. Io Shirai & HZK
A highly enjoyable and impressive match. Starlight Kid & AZM showed they do not look out of place in a match with wrestlers with the quality of Io & HZK. Highlights included a great double octopus stretch from both AZM & Kid. Everything was incredibly smooth and it is exciting to see the growth of the two youngsters in a match such as this. HZK pinned AZM after Bombs Away. 3.5/5

Jungle Kyona & Yoko Bito hit Beat Preistley with a nice double-team.
Jungle Kyona & Yoko Bito hit Beat Preistley with a nice double-team.

Jungle Kyona & Yoko Bito vs. Bea Priestley & Kelly Klein
Klein and Preistley dominated Jungle Kyona for ost of the first 10 minutes of this match, including a vicious forearm to the chin and crossbody to the outside by Preistley  Kyona eventually tagged in Bito who evened things up somewhat for a few minutes. Kyona then finally got some offence in against Bea Priestley. The match became more back-and-forth with numerous counters. Kyona & Bito did a great double team attack 1920 for a near fall. Priestley hit a great kick to the face of Bito. Eventually Bito got the upper hand but the bell rang as she attempted the pin after a B-Driver for a time-limit draw. Very entertaining and very stiff match. 3.75/5

Good

The best show of the tag league so far. Nothing amazing, but everything was at least good.
